New culture secretary takes on Freeview HD

Incoming secretary of state for culture, James Purnell, has made broadcasting part of his senior ministerial responsibilities.

James
Purnell MP will now answer questions on TV and radio policy issues, and
oversee the switchover from analogue to digital TV, starting this
autumn.

Mr Purnell will also be the point man for Ofcom's Digital
Dividend Review and the crucial decision about reserving bandwidth for
hi-def TV on Freeview.

He can be contacted via email or the DCMS website.

Let's hope this person will listen to the public outcry, Ofcom did not!. Let's hope everyone emails him and keeps the pressure on!
